The Story
Northern California is full of natural wonders and Burney Falls is certainly no exception. On a weekend getaway to Mount Shasta, we decided to make a day of visiting the area’s waterfalls because, well, I’m a sucker for waterfalls.
Nearby McCloud Falls, both Upper and Lower, are both beautiful in their own right, but Burney Falls is sublime. At 129 feet tall, it is not the tallest or largest waterfall in California. In my humble opinion, though, it is definitely in the top three. Teddy Roosevelt seems to have agreed, as he called it the “eight wonder of the world.”
Perhaps the most unique feature of this waterfall is how the water seeps out of the rock and through the moss that grows on it, which, when slowed down in a long exposure, looks like silk being drawn through a loom. Hence the title.
Another great thing about Burney Falls is that there is really no bad time of year to visit, as the water flows pretty consistently year round. So, be sure to visit it on your next trip to Northern California.
Open Edition
As the name suggests, Open Edition prints are not limited to a fixed number of runs or sizes and they offer a great way to collect prints at a lower price point.
To learn more about Open Edition prints, please see the Open Edition FAQ.
Paper
This Open Edition is printed on Fuji Crystal Archive Deep Matte Velvet which is a professional paper with a deep matte non-reflective surface that feels velvety soft. With the proper care, this paper and the print that lives on it will retain their superior quality for decades. To learn more about caring for your Open Edition print, please see the Print Care FAQ.
Custom Presentation Options
Due to the complexity of matting and framing options, it is not feasible to select custom mat and frame options via the online ordering process; therefore, by default, prints are shipped without mats and/or frames and it is the buyer’s responsibility to mat and frame their Open Edition print should they choose to.
If you are interested in ordering an Open Edition print that will be shipped in a mat and/or frame, before placing your order, please contact me and I will personally work with you to find presentation options that best suit the work and the location it will be displayed. Please note that custom presentation options will incur an additional cost.
To learn more about custom presentation options, please see the Custom Presentation FAQ.
Shipping
Open Edition prints with dimensions up to 24″ x 36″ are shipped in stay-flat boxes. This eliminates the need to roll prints in tubes, thus ensuring that your print arrives in a presentation-ready condition. Please allow up to four (4) business days of processing time for all new orders. Once your order has been processed, you will receive an email with a tracking code that you can use to monitor the shipment status of your order and determine an estimated delivery date. Depending on the shipping method you choose during checkout, it may take up to 2 weeks from the date you placed the order to receive your print. I sincerely appreciate your patience.
