The Story
The jet lag had not yet taken its full effect on the first morning in Reykjavik, yet the lack of sleep and new timezone certainly had dulled my senses. It was early morning as we left our comfortable and warm apartment in the heart of the capital city. Outside, the fresh air was invigorating; the frigid rain and blistering winds, dampened only by the surrounding buildings, sent a jolt of energy back into my system as we made our way to the car for our first day of adventure in Iceland.
Five adults with photo and video gear galore, spare clothes, and more. Our compact rental car had met its match. Sweeping vistas at every turn, colors that did not seem terrestrial, and terrain that was simultaneously intimidating and mesmerizing made the 2.5 hour drive to Kirkjufell well worth the slight discomfort of being packed in like sardines.
When we finally arrived, I only had about 20 minutes to make an image. Usually, I like to spend quite a bit of time at a location before even taking out my camera, but I had envisioned this scene countless times, obsessing over different angles and compositions, so I knew exactly where I needed to frame my shot. I suppose that’s one of the benefits of shooting at such a famous location—you can learn from the images made by other photographers that came before you, distilling the elements that you admire while still bringing your own creativity and vision to make the image your own.
With thick clouds, propelled by powerful winds, blanketing the sky, the mountain’s unique shape in the distance, and a picturesque trio of waterfalls gracing the foreground, it was a scene that is imprinted upon the memory.
I can still feel the freezing rain and the fierce winds pushing me forward.
I hope that you can feel them, too.
Limited Edition
Limited Edition prints represent only the highest caliber work in my portfolio and must pass uncompromising standards with regard to composition, image quality, subject matter, and emotional value. Limited Edition prints are offered in three (3) sizes: the small size is a Limited Edition of 50, the medium size is a Limited Edition of 30, and the large size is a Limited Edition of 20. This means that all images offered as a Limited Edition have a total edition of 100 across all size options. After all 100 prints of any given Limited Edition have been sold, no other prints of that image will ever be produced again (with the exception of artist’s proofs which never exceed 10% of the total edition size).
To learn more about Limited Edition prints, please see the Limited Edition FAQ.
Certificate of Authenticity
Limited Editions are supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) which provides pertinent information about the work, including its title, serial number, dimensions, relevant dates, and my full contact information as the artist and certificate issuer. In the event of an appraisal or resale, the COA establishes the authenticity and provenance of the work. It is highly recommended that the COA be kept with the work at all times, preferably non-permanently adhered to the back of the frame in which the print is mounted. For more information about the Certificate of Authenticity, please see the Certificate of Authenticity FAQ.
Paper
This Limited Edition is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 which is an archival quality, acid free, 100% cotton, 308gsm fine art paper with a smooth matte finish. With the proper care, this paper and the print that lives on it will retain their superior quality for generations. To learn more about caring for your Limited Edition print, please see the Print Care FAQ.
Custom Presentation Options
Due to the complexity of matting and framing options, it is not feasible to select custom mat and frame options via the online ordering process; therefore, by default, prints are shipped without mats and/or frames and it is the buyer’s responsibility to mat and frame their Limited Edition print should they choose to.
If you are interested in ordering a Limited Edition print that will be shipped in a mat and/or frame, before placing your order, please contact me and I will personally work with you to find presentation options that best suit the work and the location it will be displayed. Please note that custom presentation options will incur an additional cost.

Limited Edition prints with dimensions up to 24″ x 36″ are shipped in stay-flat boxes. Please allow up to four (4) business days of processing time for all new orders. Once your order has been processed, you will receive an email with a tracking code that you can use to monitor the shipment status of your order and determine an estimated delivery date.
